To support Texas’ overall prosperity and economic competitiveness, Commit focuses on education priorities within state government spanning quality early learning to postsecondary success and self-sustaining wage attainment.

Ensuring that Texas focuses on data-driven strategies to improve outcomes at critical academic milestones is a key pillar that drives our work.

Commit is also proud to join other education advocacy organizations in the Early Matters, InvestEdTX, and Aim Hire Texas statewide coalitions.

Strong Foundations

To support today’s workforce and cultivate a stronger workforce of tomorrow, Texas must build an integrated and aligned high-quality early childhood education system that sets our students, families, and state up for success.

Improving Academic Success

Texas House Bill 3 (86R) made equitable, strategic investments in Texas schools, and sustaining them is critical for the success of our students and our state as we recover from the pandemic and make strides to become a national leader in education.

Monitoring Progress

In addition to formative academic snapshots, valid, reliable, annual, and comparable summative assessments in core subjects enable decision makers (parents, school leaders, and policymakers) to identify opportunities and stay informed.

Improving Postsecondary Success & Workforce Development

Currently, only 22% of Texas students earn a postsecondary degree by age 24. We must strategically invest in our public higher education institutions – especially our community colleges – to build the workforce Texas needs.
