Since its inception in 2011, Leadership ISD has been dedicated to supporting a generation of leaders who are making a profound impact by shaping the future of our communities. Over the years, more than 1,000 alumni have worked tirelessly to support and prepare current and future leaders focused on improving student outcomes. As the education landscape has evolved over the past 14 years, Leadership ISD must also adapt to continue meeting the needs of our communities.

To best support the communities, Leadership ISD in Dallas County will continue their initiatives under the name Commit to Leaders and in Tarrant County as the Tarrant County Education Coalition. While the name is changing as of March 1, the heart of the work—developing and supporting civic leaders dedicated to improving student outcomes—remains the same.

Commit to Leaders

In May 2024, Leadership ISD Dallas County merged with The Commit Partnership to ensure the long-term strength and impact of its work in improving student outcomes. This partnership allows Commit to Leaders to remain laser-focused on its mission of equipping and empowering Dallas County school board trustees with the tools and information needed to improve student proficiency, while providing support to school systems to close achievement gaps. Commit to Leaders programming will include:

  • Civic Voices Fellowship: This cohort equips education advocates and aspiring school board trustees with the knowledge, mindsets, networks and experiential skills needed to improve student outcomes. Nominations for Civic Voices open in March. (Nominate a Fellow)
  • Ready to Lead Academy: Our program for aspiring school board trustees helps develop data-driven, students-first candidates that are prepared to govern effectively.
  • Emerging Trustee Academy: This program supports trustees to accelerate their journey to excellence through a student outcomes focused governance academy, and ongoing coaching and support.

Tarrant County Education Coalition

The work doesn’t stop in Dallas County. The critical work of equipping and supporting education advocates, aspiring school board trustees, and current, first-term trustees will continue in Tarrant County through Civic Voices, Ready to Lead, and Emerging Trustees Academy. However, the mission will remain the same: equipping and empowering Tarrant County school board trustees and advocates with data and tools to improve student outcomes and provide any necessary support to school systems. The mission is focused on informing and engaging more citizens, organizations, and community leaders, to create a stronger, more supportive educational environment for the students of Tarrant County.

Looking Ahead

While the names and work are evolving, the focus remains unwavering. It is driven by a single goal: improving student outcomes. Whether in Dallas County under Commit to Leaders or in Tarrant County through the Tarrant County Education Coalition, the commitment to ensuring that Texas students have the leadership and support they need to succeed is imperative.
