The Commit Partnership commends the Texas House of Representatives for its historic commitment to Texas students through substantial investments in public education in House Bill 2 by Chairman Brad Buckley. These investments represent a transformative step forward, with targeted, evidence-based strategies designed to improve student achievement, support classroom instruction, and strengthen the future of our state.

We also extend our gratitude to the Texas Senate and Chairman Brandon Creighton for his dedication to supporting educators through the continued commitment to and expansion of the Teacher Incentive Allotment in Senate Bill 26. By providing additional funding to increase the recognition and reward for our state’s outstanding teachers, the Legislature is helping ensure that every student in Texas has access to high-quality instruction that drives academic success.

“This week was a big week for Texas, with a number of bills filed that stand to dramatically support increased achievement, particularly among our students furthest behind,” said Bridget Worley, Chief State Impact Officer. “We look forward to partnering alongside the Legislature to ensure these strong policies make their way to the finish line and result in better outcomes for Texas’ 5.5 million public school children.”

“Together, these efforts reflect a shared aspirational vision for a stronger Texas, where quality public education serves as the key driver for increasing opportunity and prosperity for our state’s children” said Todd Williams, Commit CEO and Governor Abbott appointee to the 2018 and 2022 commissions that helped inform improvements to both the PK-12 and community college finance systems. ”We look forward to the positive impact that these strategic investments will have on students, teachers, and communities across the state.”
